The 15th meeting of the Coordinating Board of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) for energy sector started its work in the Turkmen capital. The representatives of energy sectors of the member countries of the Program of CAREC – the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Kazakhstan, Republic of Kyrgyzstan, People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan as well as of the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Islamic Development Bank, UNDP and USAID took part in the meeting. It is worth mentioning that Turkmenistan first hosts this forum since its accession to CAREC.
During two days, the meeting participants will consider the issues of regional importance, including development of the Central Asian and South Asian energy corridor, solution of the tasks of the regional supervisory control and trade of electric power, reforms realized in the energy sector within the framework of the World Trade Organization and realization of priority projects in this field.
