Turkmen delegation participates in OSCE event evolving security priorities and needs in Afghanistan and the wider regionThe delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the event held in the framework of 2013 OSCE Security Day entitled “International Community Engagement with Afghanistan and Central Asian States – Challenges, Synergies, Possible Responses and the OSCE Role”.

Themes addressed include support to the Heart of Asia process and combating transnational threats with a particular focus on border management, countering terrorism and narcotics, and education.

During the discussion initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to promote peace, social and economic growth in Afghanistan were announced.

The meeting is part of the OSCE Security Days initiative launched in 2012. The OSCE Security Days provide a forum for open debate and further enhancement of the OSCE’s role as a platform for co-operation and dialogue.
